Last week, CrossFit Open Workout 18.1 featured a brand new movement, incredible performances, and score changes that dramatically shook up the leaderboard. Now, two sport’s best joined Games Director Dave Castro and host?Rory Mckernan in Pennsylvania for any workout announcement that’s certain to function as the talk of the fitness world through the week in the future. Open Workout 18.2 is really a two-part workout (18.2 and 18.2A), a sprint followed by a maximal lift:

As always, athletes begin a 3, 2, 1 countdown before beginning the workout.

18.2:

An ascending couplet ladder from 1 to 10 reps each one of the following movements:

Dumbbell Squats (with two dumbbells)
Bar-Facing-Burpees

18.2A:

1 Rep Max Barbell Clean

This workout is for time having a 12 minute time cap. After completing 18.2, athletes have the remainder of the 12 minute time cap to locate a 1 rep max clean. Men use 50 pound dumbbells, women use 35 pound dumbbells. Athletes who don’t complete 18.2 underneath the 12 minute cap will receive a zero on 18.2A.

As usual, athletes registered for that Open will have until Monday at 5pm PST to submit their scores online.

The announcement for 18.2 took place at CrossFit R.A.W. in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, as well as for that one, Castro immediately took to the chalkboard.

For this announcement, multi-time Games athletes Noah Ohlsen (USA, 4th place in the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games) and Patrick Vellner (Canada, 3rd place at the 2017 Reebok CrossFit Games) faced off in an early test from the event. Vellner was also the next place finisher in the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games, and?Ohlsen’s performance on view continues to be stellar throughout his Games career, including finishing first in the world in 2016.
